Is my Marketing Job at Risk Because of Artificial Intelligence?

Yes, As a marketer I believe my job can be at risk due to artificial intelligence if I am not trying to embrace new technologies, to think of different ways on how to add value to customers and to serve their needs through more human centered marketing.

I recently listened to a great discussion by Dr Karen Yeung
The Deep Dive – Episode 15: Dr Karen Yeung on Human Rights And Artificial Intelligence (41:47)

Dr Karen Yeung talks about some Pitfalls like:

  • You don’t know what to trust anymore because each personalized message is different.
  • What damage can happen when the data collection gets into the wrong hands?
  • Voice recognition can make a phone call sound like your mother. Creepy no?
  • Tradeoff: How much privacy are we willing to sacrifice to the sake of convenience?

Are these pitfalls making you uncomfortable or do you feel like this is just the way the world functions today?

What do you do?

I believe you need to apply a more human centered marketing approach today. It’s time to start re-imagining your marketing strategy. Open up, listen carefully to your prospects or customer. The secret lies in your ability to understand your audience’s point of view, to see things from their angle and to serve their needs.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you would like me to listen to your thoughts on your today’s marketing challenges.

Take care for now and greetings from Lake Geneva Area.

Madness or people with a sense of belonging?

I am fascinated by The North Face advertisement “Question Madness”. Mark Schaefer talks in his new book “Marketing Rebellion” about how the company highlights the madness of extreme sports people, who build a true sense of belonging. As Mark Schaefer wrote in his book

“Belonging is primal and fundamental to our sense of happiness and well-being.”

Mark Schaefer ,author of Marketing Rebellion

This advertisement tells stories that serve, inspire and entertain the extreme sport climbing community. This is truly new advertising people want to see today where we are moving towards an ad-free world. We all want to belong to a community that shares our personal values. Meaning companies need to serve their fans.

Watch the video and share your thoughts. Is it madness or people on the quest of belonging?

Be more human and let the marketing rebellion movement begin.

Mark W. Schaefer is an internationally-acclaimed speaker, author and college educator. His other books include “KNOWN”, “The Content Code,” “Return On Influence,” and “The Tao of Twitter,” the best-selling book on Twitter in the world.

6 Digital marketing channels you must use to succeed

Are you still looking for guidance on how and where you should maximize your digital marketing channels?

Below you find 6 digital marketing channels you must use today to succeed. My approach is very easy to understand on how to optimize your digital ecosystem.

As a marketer the goal is to find synergies and interactions among each digital channel and to maximize it’s potential in order to achieve better results.

The Digital Ecosystem:

Inbound Marketing Graphic

1. Data analysis

Analyse the source of your traffic and only then you start to understand what kind of people are coming to your site and even a little bit of why they are coming. (Customer behaviors) Define your goals and focus on actionable outcomes.

2. Search engine marketing

Increase your visibility in search engine results through Pay-Per-Click ads or through an optimized website with your most relevant keywords.

3. Email marketing

Use email marketing to build loyalty and trust with your prospects/customers. Make sure your email list is clean and that you send out your messages to the right/relevant targets.

4. Social media

Social Media is not to worry about which social network you should be using and how many. Rather focus on building a community where your prospects and clients want to be.

5. Content marketing

Foremost write for human beings and not for robots. Create content people are willing to share with their network.

6. External websites

Outreach to external websites and bloggers. You build relationships and create authority for your website.

Do you agree with me?

What other digital channels would you add to the list that show good results?

Please share your feedback and critics in the comments section. I would love to hear from your stories.

Digital Transformation is About People

Yes, I can’t stress out enough about the fact that today’s digital transformation is foremost about people. People who have the right mindset and who think and speak digital.

Do you have the right people and team in place to lead this transformation in your business? A team who redefines your success and defines outcomes?

If yes, through my slides below, you can discover a digital marketing roadmap on what I believe is needed, in the digital world, if you want your business to create value for today’s (high expectation) consumers.

Oh And yes, this road can get muddy and messy but what counts is to get started now!

What does your digital marketing roadmap look like?

Advertising – The Super Bowl Commercials 2015

The 2015 Super Bowl is over and the New England Patriot had a great night. The probably most important night in american football is also one of the biggest in Marketing.

Awesome commercials but the most touching commercial this year for me is:

I guess being a father of 2 made me choosing the Nationwide commercial. However, knowing the Super Bowl as a big family event in the US, it’s probably not the best commercial you want your son or daughter to see during the event. Looking at the commercial from a context outside the US changes significantly your perception in my opinion.

What is your opinion?
