Marketing Trends and why AI is helpful

I think we all agree that the future of marketing is likely to involve a continued shift towards digital channels.

The power of Artificial intelligence and machine learning will play even a bigger role in automating and personalising marketing efforts, while virtual and augmented reality will open up new opportunities for immersive brand experiences.

On a personal level, AI helps me to craft my ideas around Facebook or Google headlines, or rewriting my content in multiple languages etc. which increases my productivity.

The use of influencers and user-generated content will continue to grow in importance, as consumers place more trust in recommendations from their peers than in traditional advertising.

I am curious to follow another trend which is the integration of voice search and voice assistants. This will change the way companies create their content and optimise it for voice search.

In addition, with the growing concern for privacy and data security, companies will need to be transparent and responsible with the data they collect and use for marketing purposes.

Overall, the future of marketing will require companies to be agile, adaptable, and customer-centric in order to stay ahead of the competition.

What other trends do you see in Marketing? Please leave a comment.

Another trends is Mark Schaefer’s new book – Belonging to the brand – Why Community is the Last Great Marketing Strategy.

But remember, as long as the Matterhorn stands, everything is going to be alright.

Cheers

Belonging to the Brand by Mark Schaefer

Once again Mark Schaefer sets the trend in Marketing with his new book Belonging to the brand – Why Community is the Last Great Marketing Strategy.

A trend I truly believe in and a trend I am trying to explore on a daily basis.

Mark explores the concept of building brand communities and how it can be leveraged as a marketing strategy.

He further argues that with the rise of social media and the decline of traditional marketing methods, building a community around a brand is becoming increasingly important for companies to connect with their customers and build brand loyalty.

As you certainly know by now, our profession is once again disrupted by tools such as Chat GPT but it’s up to humans to be smart about the way we use technology as an enabler to expand a company’s strategic options.

I highly recommend you read Mark’s new book “Belonging to the Brand”. The book is a comprehensive guide for marketers and business owners looking to build a strong community around their brand, and use it to drive customer engagement and growth.

But remember,as long as the Matterhorn stands, everything is going to be alright.

Cheers people and talk to you soon again.

2022 Retrospective

2022 is coming to an end and what a year it has been.

I finally met in person my long time friend and marketing thought leader Mark Schaefer at his Uprising event in Knoxville, Tennessee. The event was the first step forward of building an ongoing community of marketing leaders where Mark also launched the RISE community where you can explore the future of Marketing.

In between I also changed job where I joined the online University called “FernUni Schweiz” as their Digital Marketing Advocate where I am excited to build a community and sense of belonging for people who want to start or enhance their careers with a university degree.

My experimentation with Artificial intelligence has been very rewarding and I can only encourage you to embrace and to learn from AI which is transforming every marketer career.

We moved into our new home but unfortunately we also had a loss in our family. My beloved father-in-law tragically passed away this year and he will be remembered forever.

It’s time to look forward and I hope that 2023 brings you and me even more opportunities and that we are able to make the most out of them. The Uprising event coming to Europe in September sounds very exciting and I hope to be able to attend and to make even more connections in the industry. Drop me a message if you would like to know more about the Uprising event.

But remember, as long as the Matterhorn stands, everything is going to be alright.

Cheers people

Why Personal Branding Matters

Marketers – Have you been asking yourself already if your role in marketing is still relevant today?

Do you think artificial intelligence is a threat to you in marketing?

Artificial intelligence is already dominating areas such as writing, video, podcasting or even photographs today and as Mark Schaefer says:

Personal Branding is the only sustainable competitive advantage any of us have in the long term.

Mark Schaefer

It’s time to deal with your personal branding. Start building your reputation by delivering consistently good content where you provide industry trends, insights or observations over a long period of time.

Get over your procrastination and create content where you are honest, vulnerable and simply yourself. This is how you start branding yourself and where people are going to trust you over time.

People trust people and we believe each other.

Become KNOWN and TRUSTED in your area of expertise through PERSONAL BRANDING

Just like doctors, lawyers or university professors who are on a different level of trust for me 😉

Your time is now. Good luck!

But remember, as long as the Matterhorn stands, everything is going to be alright.

Web3 – The Future of Marketing #2

Mathew Sweezey, the futurist of Salesforce,  blew my mind with his impressive talk about Web3 at the last Uprising event.

He explained how Web 3 is changing the way consumers interact with brands and how brands approach customer lifetime value.

Don’t get confused yet about the buzz words such as NFT’s, Wallets, Blockchain, Discord, Open Sea, Crypto, Metaverse and so on.

Simply understand that Web3 is a power shift

Consumers now control their data, not brands.

Mathew Sweezey

What brands need to see is how this changes the relationship between them and consumers. Each iteration of the web has changed this dynamic, shifting power more and more towards consumers.

Web3 is envisioned as a digital space where services are operated, owned and improved by communities of users like you and me.

This is truly amazing and a trend you as a marketer, cannot ignore and need to get up to speed.

Enjoy the ride😁

But remember, as long as the Matterhorn stands, everything is going to be alright.

The Uprising Event – Here I come

I’m getting very close to finally finally meet up with my long-time friend Mark Schaefer at his Uprising event in Knoxville Tennessee.

Our journey started over 10 years ago when I was simply looking for a book that could help me to get a better understanding of Twitter. I came across Mark’s book the Tao of Twitter and the book was just right for me and ever since I follow Mark through his blog podcasts and books.

I also had a chance to be mentored by Mark and finally, finally we’ll make it happen to meet up in person. Oh yes baby like Mark would say and I can’t wait.

Check out for yourself to learn about Mark Schaefer how he could help or inspire you through his blog or books and join the marketing Rebellion.

But remember as long as the Matterhorn stands everything is going to be all right.

Greetings from a Swiss mountain guy;-)

Marketers are asleep. Consumers are the new marketing department.

Hi people,

Welcome from paradise where I’m currently celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. The Seychelles islands are a very special place and if you want to delight or surprise your partner one day, I mean this is the destination that you cannot go wrong. Just take a look at how beautiful the beach is in the back. You see some waves coming in, beautiful weather.
It’s not too warm today, beautiful conditions to enjoy a lovely holiday.

But now, let’s come back to my favorite subject again, which is marketing and I’m afraid to tell you that marketers, you are asleep. McKinsey’s research indicated already back in 2009 that consumer behaviors are changing the way they to do research and buy products today. Mark Schaefer’s new book called “Marketing Rebellion“, which came out at the beginning of 2019 highlights that consumers are the new marketing department. They are in control of a staggering 2/3 (two-thirds) of your marketing. Only 1/3 (one-third) is controlled by the marketing department.

I mean, please, this must be a wake-up call for you and me and all of us.
Here is what I would suggest doing.

We have to create consumer conversations, drip by drip, keeping your product or service in the mind of the consumers when they consider a purchase. Time over time. Period.

But remember, as long as the Matterhorn stands, everything will be alright.

Alright people, it was great talking to you. Have a good day and I continue enjoying my beautiful holiday at the Seychelles islands and I talk to you soon again from another special place. Talk to you soon. Bye bye.

Greetings from a Swiss mountain guy;-)

Madness or people with a sense of belonging?

I am fascinated by The North Face advertisement “Question Madness”. Mark Schaefer talks in his new book “Marketing Rebellion” about how the company highlights the madness of extreme sports people, who build a true sense of belonging. As Mark Schaefer wrote in his book

“Belonging is primal and fundamental to our sense of happiness and well-being.”

Mark Schaefer ,author of Marketing Rebellion

This advertisement tells stories that serve, inspire and entertain the extreme sport climbing community. This is truly new advertising people want to see today where we are moving towards an ad-free world. We all want to belong to a community that shares our personal values. Meaning companies need to serve their fans.

Watch the video and share your thoughts. Is it madness or people on the quest of belonging?

Be more human and let the marketing rebellion movement begin.

Mark W. Schaefer is an internationally-acclaimed speaker, author and college educator. His other books include “KNOWN”, “The Content Code,” “Return On Influence,” and “The Tao of Twitter,” the best-selling book on Twitter in the world.
