What is New Marketing?

What's your story

Today it’s easy to create average stuff for average people. But how to stand out from the mass is more difficult. The hard part is getting people’s attention and their trust. Can you steal my attention? If you do, you won my trust and you get my permission to communicate with me. Congratulations!

Obviously Seth’s words sound straightforward and easy but as you and I know everything comes at a price. Your online success doesn’t happen over night and it takes hard work to win people’s trust. The good news is that with today’s online tools everyone has the opportunity to shine if you are committed, consistent, authentic and helpful.

What are you doing today to win my trust? What’s your story?

I listened to the copyblogger radio show at http://www.copyblogger.com/seth-godin-marketing/ to find the powerful insights from Seth Godin.

Quotes from Seth Godin;

New Marketing is about telling stories that spread.

Remember that everything is just a click away.

Read This Before Our Next Meeting by Al Pittampalli

After reading the manifesto “Read This Before Your Next Meeting” by Al Pittampali I am more than happy to support spreading this truly Modern Meeting Revolution.

Fed up with Convenience Meetings?

Fed up with Formality Meetings?

Fed up with Social Meetings?

It’s time to start learning about the Modern Meeting Revolution.

The Seven Principles of Modern Meetings

  1. The Modern Meeting supports a decision that has already been made.
  2. The Modern Meeting moves fast and ends on schedule.
  3. The Modern Meeting limits the number of attendees.
  4. The Modern Meeting rejects the unprepared.
  5. The Modern Meeting produces committed action plans.
  6. The Modern Meeting refuses to be informational. Reading memos is mandatory.
  7. The Modern Meeting works only alongside a culture of brainstorming.

Your Action Plan

  1. Download and read the manifesto Read This Before Our Next Meeting.

Do The Work by Steven Pressfield

If you are stuck with your work, feel resistance and don’t know how to finish your work read this manifesto Do The Work by Steven Pressfield.

One of my favorite parts of this manifesto is when Steven Pressfield tells you to stay stupid. Why? Because any smart person who understood how difficult were the tasks they had set themselves would have pulled the plug before he even began.

Read Do The Work and take notes, pass it on to your friends who are stuck and get them moving.

Book Review: Linchpin by Seth Godin

I am not asking to get anything in exchange. If you are reading this blog and watch the video you already make me feeling good;-)

Order the book Linchpin by Seth Godin(affiliate) from Amazon.
Bestselling Author Seth Godin says this time it’s personal. The book is a personal manifesto, a plea from Seth Godin to you. Linchpin is about a choice ans it’s about your life. This choice doesn’t require you to quit your job, though it challenges you to rethink how you do your job.

As Seth Godin says: “If you want a job where it’s okay to follow the rules, don’t be surprised if you get a job where following the rules is all you get to do.”

“If you want a job where you take intellectual risks all day long, don’t be surprised if your insights get you promoted.”

ITS YOUR CHOICE – Think about your choice and become indispensable.

The Domino Project – A New Publishing Venture by Seth Godin

What is the Domino Project?

What happens when a publisher has a tight, direct connection with readers, is able to produce intellectual property that spreads, and can do both quickly and at low cost? A new kind of publishing, the brainchild of Seth Godin, and powered by Amazon. Visit the Domino Project website to learn more.

Seth Godin is reinventing what it means to be a publisher, and along the way, spreading ideas that we’re proud to spread.

I read the Poke the Box Workbook and I am fascinated by Seth Godin’s approaches. You can download the Workbook on the right hand side of my blog under HOW ALL GOT STARTED.

Seth Godin really wants to push us to get out of our comfort zone, to get over our fear to initiate projects.

As he quotes:

“What would our world look like if more people started projects, made a ruckus, and took risks?”

Download the Workbook now and read many questions but most importantly the answers have to come from YOU.

If you are a marketing professional, want to learn something about Marketing or simply want to develop your personal knowledge I encourage you to subscribe to Mitch Joel’s Podcasts on iTunes and start listening to the conversation that is happening now!

Seth Godin keeps the table clean by not going to meetings, not watching TV, he is most happy when he can solve interesting problems and when he doesn’t have to do repetitive work.

This sounds very interesting to me and I want to keep listening to what Seth Godin has to say. You too? It’s time to ship!
